The United States Supreme Court will be ruling on their own 1973 Roe v. Wade decision – sometime in June. Regardless of the outcome, it’s clear that the Roe decision – which I might add, was never a law passed by our elected legislators, changed the culture in America into a “Culture of Death.” It was a flagrant example of “legislating from the bench.” And like other bad legal decisions, sharply divided America. The positions on either side could not be further apart. Many in the Evangelical Church of Jesus Christ have stood staunchly against Abortion, rightly identifying the life that is terminated as both “Human” and “Alive.” No matter what “new-speak” we hear from the Democrats, Abortion is all about ending a Human Life without Due Process of Law. 63,459,781 human lives have been ended, not because these poor souls committed a capital offense worthy of death, but due to a litany of pathetic excuses, none of which can be morally defended or rationally explained.
One thing is certain, since Roe v. Wade and the Democrats’ Great Society - the plight of Women has not improved, but worsened. Like many others, I believe that Abortion, far from freeing women from the bondage of pregnancy, IS THE DEMOCRATS’ REAL WAR ON WOMEN! Millions of pregnant, out of wedlock American women have aborted their children because they were encouraged by a society that no longer values the creative gift of “life-giving” that women bring to society. The Women’s Movement that started at the same time, told us that Abortion would free women from being “baby-breeders,” and subject to the control of men. Here’s Helen Ready singing her 1972 hit, “I Am Woman:”
“I am woman, hear me roar in numbers too big to ignore. And I know too much to go back and pretend, cause I've heard it all before. And I've been down there on the floor, No one's ever going to keep me down again. Whoa, yes, I am wise, but it's wisdom born of pain. Yes, I've paid the price, but look how much I gained. If I have to I can do anything. I am strong, I am invincible, I am woman.”
Sadly, one of the things they believe women have gained is: “The Right To Murder An Innocent Child Rather Than Birthing It.” Wow, that’s some right to be proud of! It’s almost like a group of Superheroes standing around and asking each other: “What’s your superpower?” After Batman says “I stop Bad Guys,” and “Captain America says: “I stop Evil Geniuses who want to control the whole world.” And Superman says: “I save the helpless from calamities, and stop those trying to hurt the innocent.” Then Woman steps up and says: “I get to kill a baby human being!” I guess I just don’t see women’s progress in those acts of violence against the innocent. If you ask Progressive Liberal Democrats and their Marxist friends, they’ll tell you that “Child-Death” and not “Child-Birth” is a Woman’s greatest contribution to society, it’s her Superhero power! How did we get to a place where we now call “Child-Death” a value or a good thing?
As always, I believe that scripture speaks to this twisted mindset. As Jesus was being led to His death on Calvary’s Cross, many Jewish women in Jerusalem began to weep for him. Surprisingly, Jesus gave them a solemn warning:
“A huge crowd of people followed him, including women who wrung their hands and wept for him. But Jesus turned to them and said, “Women of Jerusalem, do not shed your tears for me, but for yourselves and for your children! For the days are coming when men will say, ‘Lucky are the women who are childless – the bodies which have never given birth, and the breasts which have never given nourishment’” (Luke 23:27-29).
While this prophecy was directed to the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the 1st Century A.D., it does have an application for us. When God’s judgment begins to fall upon a people, they will no longer value a woman’s greatest gift, the birthing and nurturing of human life. We are living in similar times. The callous attitude toward the life of a child and the total disrespecting of this greatest of all “superpowers,” is evidence of God’s hand of judgment. As we watch, the “godless Progressive Democrats” who celebrate this culture of death, are now horrified that Roe v. Wade might be overturned.
The Sexual Revolution of the 1960’s promised consequence-free-sexual-fulfillment, and divorced sexuality from marriage and commitment. It’s also been a total bust – especially for the inner-city poor. As Roe v. Wade encouraged Americans to embrace this “culture of death,” it asserted that women no longer had to be dependent on men. But at what cost? I contend that women were the real victims of Roe v. Wade and the Sexual Revolution. Like the old adage: “Why buy a cow when the milk is cheap?” Female sexuality has become a worthless commodity, for which men no longer have to agree to marriage and commitment for life. And Roe v. Wade made Child-Birth unnecessary!
I won’t bore you with the statistics, but what they do show is that since Roe v. Wade the Poverty Rate has not gone down, it has drastically risen in the inner city – especially for single American Women who instead of being helped, are actually hurt. Like all the promised Progressive-Democrat solutions, this one caused unwanted pregnancy to increase, and the poverty rate much, much worse. Also, the Abortion solution added to a whole list of social ills brought on by “children having children:” Juvenile Crime, Drug Use, and a total disrespect for women. This disrespect toward women has been evidenced by demeaning lyrics from many Rap Music performers toward inner-city women. This doesn’t look like making gains, it looks like a war on women! When men are no longer responsible for the care and upbringing of their children – and the women with transfer payments from the government – control the household pocketbook – then all of men’s energy will be directed toward controlling the streets and proving their masculinity in destructive ways with gangs.
The consequences of this godless mindset have also produced multiple generations of “Fatherless Children,” growing up without a father to take ownership for their well-being and crippling their young teenage Mothers – most who will never finish High School. Is it any wonder why they are ill-equipped to parent? The end result is that neither parent accepts the responsibility to raise, provide for, discipline or even love their child. And the Left blatantly tells us: “These choices are entirely a woman’s; men have no part in child-birth or raising a family.” As a result, men have been disenfranchised and Uncle Sam has become the absentee father to millions of inner-city children – who just want to be loved and cared for. And while “government is a poor parent,” it is very competent at being “a warden for a generation of fatherless men.” Biblical roles for men and women have been altered, and now appear to be severed from God’s plan. God designed the roles of men and women to be interdependent:
“Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man nor man of woman; for as woman was made from man, so man is now born of woman. And all things are from God” ( 1 Corinthians 11:11-12).
As we read history, it seems to be one story after another of men touting their accomplishments. One says: “I built sky-scrapers” and another “I split the atom” or still others may say “I explored the known world” or “harnessed oil and other mineral deposits which provide energy to power society.” Woman should be able to step forward and say: “And I gave birth to all of those great men and women who invented, harnessed, created and developed all of those great accomplishments.” That’s the interdependence God originally created, a semblance of order in our fallen world. To that, we can all say Amen and praise God for the miracle of life – and the mothers who brought us into this world!”
It must be acknowledged that women have made some strides in “leaving the home and entering the workplace.” I can attest that women are just as competent at many jobs as men are. But like childbirth is to men, there are some roles that women are not designed for: Construction work, Roughnecks (working on Oil Rigs), Soldiers, Firemen and other jobs that require a man’s strength to perform. I can also attest that many women fell for the promise of a fulfilled life by being successful at work and foregoing the roles of wife and mother. Many women since the 1960’s have adopted the “sexual promiscuity” that is typical of men and gained lucrative careers – often displacing men in the workplace. Then waking up in their 40’s and 50’s – past their years of fertility, to lament the lonely and sterile life of the Modern Woman:
“At the office where the papers grow, she takes a break. Drinks another coffee, and she finds it hard to stay awake. It's just another day. Du du du du du du, it's just another day. So sad, so sad, Sometimes she feels so sad. Alone in apartment, she'd dwell, Till the man of her dreams comes to break the spell. Ah, stay, don't stand her up, And he comes, and he stays, but he leaves the next day. So sad, sometimes she feels so sad” (“Another Day,” The Beatles).
So often art actually imitates life. In the lyrics above, Paul McCartney laments the world of the modern woman who has a career and apartment of her own, an occasional “one-night-stand,” BUT NO LASTING RELATIONSHIPS!” This is the world that Progressive-Democrats and their Elite Eugenic friends have created. A sterile, childless world, where a woman is barely valued for anything except a one-night-stand. Not a wife, a life-giver or the glue holding a family together, she’s just a commodity to be worked into the machinery as a city-dweller, or used as a sexual plaything for either gender. This is what the War on Women really looks like! And now to add insult to injury, they push Lesbian, Gay and Transexual Behavior to be preferred. So I ask: “What exactly is a woman?” And “what does she contribute to society?” She’s no longer valued for “life giving” in childbirth or her “sexuality.” Socialist Elites say: “Being a Baby-Breeder is a scourge, and men no longer need the normal use of a woman.” They can get that satisfaction from one another! (Romans 1:26).
Roe v. Wade was the ultimate War on Women. It disenfranchised women as well as men – whose only role was to “sire children.” The dignity, honor and value of women has become worthless. And same-sex unions are said to be preferred above God’s created norm of male-female relationships. Roe v. Wade represents even more sinister consequences. As the “Abortion Industry” geared up to provide this new “right to women,” most of the women aborting their children were disproportionately African-American and other minorities. For anyone who knows about Planned Parenthood’s founder and patron saint, Margaret Sanger – she targeted those races that she and her “socialist-elite” friends deemed dispensable. It’s a common fact that 79% of all Planned Parenthood Clinics are in walking distance of inner-city neighborhoods, readily available to minority women. And minority women have availed themselves completely of these clinics.
Prior to Roe v. Wade, there were approximately 18,000,000 African Americans in the U.S. Now almost 50 years later, we’ve managed to kill close to 19,000,000 African-Americans. African-Americans make up almost 1/3 of all Abortions in the U.S.! Margaret Sanger referred to dark skinned people as human weeds, and she and her organization did an amazing job of pulling as many weeds as they could. This cannot be beneficial to Black Women or to the whole generation who was never born. This is the ugly heritage of Roe v. Wade. And now we live in a culture where – just like the women of Jerusalem of old – we hear our modern Elites saying: “Blessed are the women who have never had children, or the breasts that have never nourished an infant.”
We’re in a world turned-upside-down! “USA Today’s” Woman of the Year is a Transexual Man, Rachel Levine. Women’s Sports have been taken over by Male Transgender contestants. According to most studies – somewhere around 65% of all Abortions are not the choice of the pregnant woman – but a coerced decision forced on them by boyfriends, husbands and / or parents! And sadly, psychologists tell us that a majority of women will suffer lifelong depression as a result of killing that life they knew they should protect. This is the War on Women! My prayer is that this horrible act of judicial fiat, a decision made by unelected men in Black Robes, falls into the trashcan of history where it belongs. I further hope that in the days ahead there will be a revival of God’s truth among the women of this land, and that one day in the future, many young women will stand up as the superheroes which God has equipped them to be, and state: “My superhero power is giving life to my child and nurturing the next generation of human beings made in God’s image!”
